Early Birds January Meeting – Meet Liam O’Farrell – Somerset Artist

This month our talk will be by Liam O’Farrell, a Somerset-based artist who works mostly in watercolours and oils. Liam will speak to us about his creative approach to uncovering the extraordinary within the everyday. Working across a range of media, he reveals the often-overlooked beauty in familiar people and places, drawing inspiration from artists like Spencer and Lowry. He plans to share why he prefers to work directly in front of his subjects, capturing the atmosphere of the moment and gathering stories from passers-by that enrich his work. For Liam, studio-only practice would feel like “painting through a letterbox,” as he believes life’s true pleasures are found in the ordinary things right before our eyes.
